Mamatha Shekar

With over 25 years of experience in biotechnology, Mamatha is a pioneer with a wide spectrum of expertise in assay development, devices and diagnostic R&D, health informatics, digital health and project management. Her most recent achievement, while serving as VP, Genome Sciences at Gali Health, was pioneering digital health processes for at home real-world sample and symptom collection using a mobile app and building the first ever immuno profiles from stool samples of IBD patients. Prior to Gali Health, Mamatha served as Director, Biomedical Informatics at Illumina where she was Core Team Lead for two of Illumina’s top three profitable SaaS products. Previously, Mamatha held various positions with increasing responsibility at NextBio, where she was responsible for the creation of the world’s largest content of harmonized and integrated clinical and molecular data, both from public and proprietary repositories.

Having worked in early stages of company formation, she has built successful and high performing teams from the ground up and takes pride in the growth of professional development of team members. Mamatha has published over 30 scientific papers, book chapters and has been awarded patents.

Mamatha earned a Master’s degree, Molecular Genetics and Pathology from Iowa State University and a PhD, Biological Sciences from Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya.
