Dr. Douglas P. Clark is a physician-scientist, pathologist, and health care executive whose 25-year career has spanned academic medicine, biomedical research, entrepreneurship, and health system executive leadership. Doug is an expert in the fields of pathology artificial intelligence, cytopathology, and molecular diagnostics, and has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications, several books and book chapters, is an inventor on several patents, and has given dozens of invited lectures nationally and internationally.
Previously, Doug served as Chief Medical Officer of Ibex Medical Analytics, a global company that is pioneering the application of artificial intelligence to cancer diagnostics and pathology. In this role Doug executed a novel clinical trial for regulatory approval of this software as a medical device. Prior to this, Doug served as Chief Medical Officer for Tricore Reference Labs, a $250M clinical laboratory that serves three major health systems in New Mexico.
As an academic pathologist Doug served as a tenured Professor of Pathology and Oncology at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, and subsequently became the Frederick H. Harvey Chair of Pathology and Professor at the University of New Mexico.
Doug received his B.A. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Northwestern University and his M.D. degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He completed a pathology residency, cytopathology fellowship, and a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
