
Most recently, Mathew served as Senior Vice President at Arialys Therapeutics, where he helped build the company from asset acquisition into a venture-backed CNS company that secured $58 million in seed financing within its first year of operation, including a $15 million investment from Johnson & Johnson Innovation (JJDC). His leadership responsibilities spanned fundraising strategy, investor engagement, corporate development, operational coordination, alliance management and cross-functional execution supporting the company’s advancement toward the clinic.
Prior to Arialys, he held leadership roles at Cidara Therapeutics, leading strategic collaborations and alliance initiatives with global pharmaceutical partners and at BD Biosciences, where he led OEM, licensing and business development initiatives supporting global commercial partnerships and market expansion within the life sciences tools sector. Earlier in his career, he focused on technology development and strategic research partnerships at Scripps Research, held commercial leadership positions at Oracle Corporation and began his career in pharmaceutical sales at Sanofi Aventis.
In parallel with his operating leadership roles, Mathew has advised emerging biotechnology companies as a fractional executive and strategic partner. His advisory work has included fundraising readiness, corporate development strategy, alliance governance, organizational design, executive alignment and leadership development for rapidly scaling teams.
Mathew also serves on the boards of Ocean Discovery Institute and Biopharma Leaders of Color (BLOC), supporting initiatives focused on education, leadership development and expanding representation across the scientific and business communities.
He holds a Master of Science in Chemistry from University of California San Diego and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from University of California, Davis.
